Ahh Susie. She’s a bit creepy but a whole lot of fun! A zombie cheerleader to celebrate Halloween. You can add pompoms but as a zombie, I suspect she may forget about them!
Difficulty: Intermediate, US terminology
Materials:
2.75mm hook/C-2 (US)
8ply yarn DK Light Worsted
Less than 50g yarn in RED, WHITE, GREEN, YELLOW and BLACK
BLACK 4ply yarn or embroidery thread
Mismatched safety eyes – I’ve used a 9mm (red) and a 7mm (black)
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Polyester toy stuffing
Stitch marker
Notes:
A yarn with no stretch is best for amigurumi, I ordinarily use cotton or cotton blend.
Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round (unless it says otherwise).
For this pattern, the following yarns were used:
o RED = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in col. 416 Red Wine
o WHITE = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in col. 401 Paper White
o GREEN = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in col. 452 Pistachio Green
o YELLOW = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in col. 421 Banana Cream
o BLACK = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in col. 402 Pure Black
I use a 2.75mm hook with 8ply yarn. Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight to keep stuffing from showing and for any attachments to stay in place.
The yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of the finished item. My Susie the Zombie Doll is approximately 23cm tall (9 inches).
I have used safety eyes for this pattern but you may embroider. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
