The coal tit looks like the great tit, but is a lot smaller and much paler in color. Coal tits have a small tuft that they set up when they are concerned about something. In the Netherlands, black tits are rare. The coal tit is on the red list threatened with extinction in the Netherlands. They are conifer dwellers, mainly spiders and insects that they eat in the upper layers of the trees. In the winter, black tits eat mainly seeds, so they can often be observed in gardens on feed tables. The crochet tit is 14 cm wide, and 10 cm high.
