Five ocean buddies splash their way through idyllic ocean days, playing chase and catching fish, plankton or algae for dinner. This bumper pattern includes instructions to make Nigel the Narwhal, Wendy the Whale, Daphne the Dolphin and Sheamus the Shark as well as their little friend Stephanie the Starfish. This shoal of merry sea dwellers sometimes go by the collective name of Oceans 5, after the great heist films, but don't worry, they're not about to make off with anything more valuable than a scavenged oyster pearl or two!
Using light worsted weight (DK/8 ply) yarn and a 3 mm hook, narwhal/whale/dolphin/shark measure between 6-7” (15-18 cm) long. Starfish measures 4” (10 cm) across.
Suggested safety eye size - 10 mm (narwhal/whale/dolphin/shark) and 6 mm (starfish).
This pattern is written in American crochet terminology and includes a handy stitch conversion chart so you can translate to British crochet terms instead should you wish to.
Stitches used: chain, single crochet, increase, (invisible) decrease, back loops only, surface crochet
