This amigurumi crochet pattern is inspired by the increasingly psychedelic cat paintings of Louis Wain. After painting naturalistic cats in his early career, Wain's style became more anthropomorphized over time, before becoming more abstract and geometric, widely believed to be a result of mental ill-health.
