Mountain Gorillas

$ 7.00

US English pattern by Janine Holmes at Moji-Moji Design. Includes step-by-step pictures.

You may be able to tell from looking into her kind eyes that Mayangi is a wonderfully loving and protective mom to little Matondo. She is sure never to let him out of her sight and though he’s free to climb trees and roll around to his hearts content on the mountainside he never roams too far before he’s back to snuggle up in the safety and warmth of her soft fur.

If working with furry yarn is not your thing then the exact same pattern can be used with ordinary smooth yarn instead to create a beautiful pair of lowland gorillas. All the cuteness of the mountain gorillas but without the fluff. After all, it is a lot warmer in the lowlands so they really don't miss that fur coat.

My patterns are written out in great detail and have plenty of photos to help you keep on track.

When made with a 3 mm hook and light worsted weight yarns Mayangi measures approx. 13” (33 cm) tall and Matondo approx. 7” (18 cm) tall.

Suggested safety eye sizes - Mayangi: 12 mm, Matondo: 10 mm

This pattern is written in American crochet terminology and includes a handy stitch conversion chart so you can translate to British crochet terms instead should you wish to.

Stitches used: chain, slip stitch, single crochet, increase, (invisible) decrease, half double crochet, double crochet, back loops only, front loops only
